Tomorrow we will become scientists when we design, build and test structures. Thank you to Lauren’s mom for all the newspapers she dropped off!

Today you were given a handout with practice questions for the math test on Friday. Please share any struggles about the algebra concepts you have been learning, with me or someone at home.

Math Homework tonight is to comp[lete questions 1-7 on the “Solving Equations” handout. Many of you finished during class time but you should review your work at home. Summative Math Test is on Friday. On Monday we will begin a unit on probability.

Remember to find an article or advertisement showing point of view. Check the characteristics of a point of view text in your Nelson Literacy Book B.

Our learning goal for oral communication is: I can listen well in many situations. Practice the success criteria at home as well as at school.

It is a waste of valuable class time when you want to get a drink or use the washroom right after recess. As I mentioned today, you need to bring a water bottle and fill it up at recess to drink during class and use the washroom at recess. After today you will not be given permission to leave the classroom to get a drink .

Math Homework Tonight - Complete questions 1,2,3 and 4 from the handout “Variables in Expressions”. Be sure to explain your thinking and answer the calcualtion questions using complete sentences. For example, Jane would read 30 pages in 3 days if she reads 10 pages a day. I know this because….

Your 3 States of Matter article is due on Friday. Remember to refer to the success criteria and suggested points to include.

You will be building a structure when Scientists in the School come to our class next week. We need your extra newspapers for this task. Please bring in any newspapers you would normally recycle for this task.

Your Learning Goal in Math is: “I can write an expression with a variable to describe a number pattern”. Tonight review what an expression is. Also, complete questions A to E if you did not finish them in class. Summative test will be Monday, May 7th. Formative test will likely be Friday, May 11th.

In P.E. we have begun soccer skills. Today you were working on the skill of trapping. Continue to practice this skill at recess and/or at home.

In Reading, we are learning to identify point of view and missing point of view in media texts. Furthermore, we are working towards suggesting alternative points of view when studying media texts. In the future we will need old newspapers like the Free Press or Toronto Star. If you have any at home and your family is finished with them, please bring then in.

Some of you struggled to show the important events when describing, through a storyboard, the sequence of events a refugee or emigrant takes from the time the leave their country to becoming a Canadian Citizen. As we discussed in class, it is up to you to decide if you would like to re-do the task and improve your grade.

Y.M.C.A. Child Care Survey went home today.

Today in math the goal was to show you can use manipulatives to model how the equal sign is a symbol used between 2 equal values. Can you show your parents a drawn model?
